Hair density
Hair density is how many individual hairs grow on a given area of the scalp. It is separate from thickness, which is the width of each strand, so a person can have fine strands in high density or coarse strands in low density. Density matters because it decides how much weight a cut needs to remove: dense hair often needs texturizing, while sparse hair looks fuller with longer lengths on top and less severe tapering.
