Crown
The crown is the swirl of hair growth at the back of the top of the head. It matters because the direction of growth there affects how the top of a cut lies, especially in short styles and two-block cuts, where a crown whorl can make the top stick up or part. Telling your barber where your crown sits helps them cut the top so it falls neatly. Lift at the crown is also what gives many styles their body.
