Layers
Layers are different hair lengths cut within the hair so that sections stack and overlap, reducing bulk and adding movement. They matter most in medium-length styles, where they stop thick hair from puffing outward and help hair hold a curve or wave. Too many layers can make fine hair look thin and stringy, while too few can leave thick hair heavy, so the number depends on your density.
