Why does my fringe split in the middle?

A woman seen from behind with layered, shoulder-length dark brown hair against a pink and lilac background.

The answer

A cowlick or the natural direction of your hairline is the most common cause. Growth direction, not your styling skill, often decides how a fringe lies. Tell your stylist where your cowlick or widow's peak is so they can cut with it in mind, or style the split into a deliberate gentle center parting. Drying the fringe in the direction you want while damp also helps.
